What is an .PMF file?

File extension pmf is used for files that contain pre-authored published maps used in products developed by ESRI.

These files are basically created from .mxd files and are meant for final publishing.

A .pmf file does not contain any map data, it is just a pointer to the location of the actual maps on a server.

Files with pmf extension can mainly be used in GIS software sold by ESRI. These are publishing files MXD maps.
