What is an .XSN file?

The xsn file extension is associated with Microsoft Office InfoPath and used for its template form files. Template file formats are those whose file extension indicates that the file type is intended as a starting point from which to create other files.

Files with xsn file extension were or still are used for:

  • InfoPath Web Browser Form Templates
  • InfoPath Editor Form Templates
  • Info Path 2007 Web Browser Form Templates
  • InfoPath 2007 Editor Form Templates

By default, XSN file is CAB archive, which includes XSD, XSL, JS, VBS and picture image files.

InfoPath and InfoPath 2007 may have different file formats but file extension is the  same.

This xsn file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.

An xsn file extension is used for template forms for Microsoft Office InfoPath. Templates are used to quickly create documents with same style and settings. Used in several editions of InfoPath.

How to open:

XSN is the default file format used by InfoPath, part of Microsoft Office.
