What is an .VRD file?

The vrd file defines the parameters of a report created with Microsoft Visio. It is saved in an XML format. It is divided into five sections including:

  • 1) the title and description
  • 2) the fields and column headers
  • 3) information selection filters
  • 4) record groupings
  • 5) a description of how the information is sorted

Files with vrd file extension are related to the report definition format used by Microsoft Visio.

How to open:

Visio report definitions can only be opened using the Reporting Tool within Visio. This feature can accessed by selecting Tools->Report.

How to convert:

As far as we know, this .vrd file type can't be converted to any other file format. This is usually the case of system, configuration, temporary, or data files containing data exclusive to only one software and used for its own purposes. Also some proprietary or closed file formats cannot be converted to more common file types in order to protect the intellectual property of the developer, which is for example the case of some DRM-protected multimedia files.
