The rar5 file extension is associated with the WinRAR a compression tool for Microsoft Windows operating system. In the current version number 5 was introduced a new compression algorithm RAR5.

RAR5 features:

• 1GB dictionary (only in 64-bit version)
• better multicore support
• removes multimedia, text and itanium binaries special compression algorithms

This compression format cannot be managed by older versions of WinRAR.
