What is an .PMD file?

File extension pmd is associated with Adobe PageMaker, a desktop publishing program, used to create more complex and stylish documents.

PageMaker was the one of the first desktop publishing applications developed by Aldus Corporation in 1985 and initially for Apple Macintosh and later for Windows 1.0.

PageMaker relies on Adobe Systems' PostScript Page description language (PDL). In 1994 Adobe Systems acquired Aldus and PageMaker and branding it the Adobe PageMaker.

The Pagemaker was discontinued in 2004 and its successor is the Adobe InDesign.

InDesign CS6 and older is capable of open pmd documents. However, latest version of InDesign (InDesign CC) can't open old PageMaker files.

This pmd file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.

How to open:

Adobe PageMaker can open and edit .pmd files. But PageMaker is old and obsolete software. If you don't have PageMaker installed, you have to search internet and find somewhere installation files of this old software. Modern software like InDesign does not support this old pmd files today.

How to convert:

Adobe PageMaker can probably export or save .pmd files to another format.
