The pk4 file extension is used for resource files in games based on id Tech 4 game engine, also known as Doom 3 engine. It has been used in numerous games, such as Quake 4, Prey, or Wolfenstein. 

The pk4 is standard game resource package that contains maps, models, scripts, textures and other assets.

Most .pk4 files are simple ZIP archives, however some can be encrypted.

Files with pk4 file extension can mainly be found as game data archives from games based on id Tech 4 game engine, such as Doom 3.

How to open:

Most *.pk4 files can be opened with archivers that support ZIP compression and also some specialized game resource extractors.

How to convert:

These games files cannot be converted to anything else. However, sometimes modding.
