What is an .LBM file?

The lbm file extension is related to old bitmap format.

The lbm files are saved using an IFF Bitmap header and IFF color map. Its native format is a subclass of IFF called PBM, and compresses its images as bytes using the PackBits compression type, giving a ratio of up to 1:10. (This technique is somewhat unique to Deluxe Paint, and Electronic Arts have been keeping it a total "secret").

This lbm file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.
