What is an .GI file?

File extension gi is associated with older disk image format created by Prassi burning software (Prassi Primo DVD), a program distributed with some professional DVD/RW burners.

Prassi also licensed and later sold the product, so it is highly likely that programs with different name used the same file format. Such programs like Sony CD Extreme, Veritas My CD, My CD Pro, or Sonic RecordNow! were often bundled with various DVD/RW drives.

In 2001 Veritas acquired Prassi and the company is now defunct, the original software no longer sold or supported. However some 3rd party software still support GI format.

CD images created in Prassi software typically had gcd file extension instead.

Files with gi extension are disk images created using Prassi burning software. Old format, but still supported by some burning software.

How to open:

Various 3rd party programs like ISOBuster, PowerISO or UltraISO support Prassi GI format and its clones and are able to open and burn *.gi files.

How to convert:

Burning software that can open *.gi files is also able to convert it to common ISO or other disk image formats.
