What is an .FXB file?

The fbx file extension is associated with the Steinberg Cubase, a music composing software. Usually, a .fbx file is a VST (Virtual Studio Technology) Plugin/VSTi Bank preset file standard created by Steinberg Media Technologies.

They were introduced in Steinberg Cubase VST, implemented in Cubase SX but discontinued in Cubase 4. FXB presets hold a whole bank of sounds and are normally used to save the setup for Multi-Timbral VSTi's.

This fxb file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.

Files with fbx file extension can be usually found as special VST preset plug-ins for Steinberg Cubase music composing software.
