What's on this Page
This is the format developed by AutoDesk that is designed for storing brief animations.
FLI is limited to images 320 by 200 pixels and allows a palette of 256 colors (although the palette can be changed from line to line to give more colors per frame).
FLI is based on a fixed frame rate specified in "ticks per frame" (there are 70 ticks per second), and has an implicit 6:5 aspect ratio. In theory, all FLI animations must loop, but in practice this requirement is often ignored. The image data in FLI files is compressed using a Run-length compression scheme.
This is suitable for animations, but is inappropriate for videos or dithered images. The FLI format has largely been superseded by its close cousin, (but more flexible) FLC format.
The fli_ file extension was used on old versions of Mac OS.
This fli_ file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.
This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.
