.CRYPT5 File

The crypt5 file extension is associated with the WhatsApp an instant messaging service and the same named client for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and other systems.

The crypt5 file stores encrypted database with saved conversations.

WhatsApp Messenger also uses crypt, crypt6, crypt7, crypt8, crypt9, crypt10, crypt11, crypt12 file extension for its encrypted databases.

WhatsApp Messenger uses the first account added on Android phone generally Google Account to encrypt chats stored in crypt5 database.

To view content of crypt5 file for example in WhatsApp Viewer you need to know, which the first account is related to Android phone, where the crypt5 file was stored.

By default, the file is called: msgstore.db.crypt5 and it is stored in phone SDcard/WhatsApp/Databases folder.

This crypt5 file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.
