.CRYPT6 File

The crypt6 file extension is associated with the WhatsApp Messenger an instant messaging client for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Symbian operating systems. The *.crypt6 file stores encrypted messaging history.

WhatsApp Messenger also uses crypt, crypt5, crypt7 file extension for its encrypted databases.

The crypt6 file extension is used by some beta versions of WhatsApp Messenger, however now is used crypt7 file extension.

By default, the file is called: msgstore.db.crypt6 and it is stored on phone SDcard/WhatsApp/Databases folder.

This crypt6 file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.
