What's on this Page
File extension vp6 is used for video files based on proprietary lossy video compression format and video codec called On2 TrueMotion VP6 first introduced in 2003.
This codec is commonly used by Adobe Flash, Flash Video, and JavaFX media files.
The format was also used in several games, including as Need for Speed Undercover, Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 or Medal of Honor, for their video/movie files.
Later versions of this codec are VP7 and VP8. In 2010 Google acquired On2 and VP8 went open source. VP6 is not supported.
This vp6 file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.
This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.
Files with vp6 extension are video files compressed using the TrueMotion VP6 video codec. Old format no longer used and replaced by modern codecs.
