File extension vmem is associated with the VMware Workstation virtualization application for Microsoft Windows that allows users to create virtual computers on one physical machine.

The virtual machine's paging vmem file contains back up of the guest main memory on the host file system. This file exists only when the virtual machine is running, or if the virtual machine has crashed.
