The vmc file extension is associated with the Microsoft Virtual PC application. Microsoft Virtual PC is recommended to create virtual machines with Windows on one physical computer, however it is also able to run virtual machines with other operating systems such as Linux, Solaris, OS/2, MS-DOS etc.

A vmc file contains settings for virtual machine such as processor settings, memory settings, graphic card settings, net connection, USB settings. The VMC format is related to VHD Virtual Hard Disk format, in which virtual machine data are stored

The vmc file is in XML text file format and its contain is viewable in simple text editor for example Windows Notepad, Notepad++, TextEdit, gedit.

How to convert:

The VMC format is related to VHD format. Both of them are used by VMWare vCenter Converter to convert Microsoft Virtual PC virtual machine to WMvare virtual machine.
