The thumbdata file extension is associated with the Google Android, an operating system based on Linux kernel developed for smart phones, tablets and also other devices, like televisions, digital TV receivers etc.

The thumbdata file stores temporary thumbnail database generated by Android for pictures and other multimedia content stored on the phone's local data storage, or SD card.

Behind thumbdata extension are two dashes "--" and number generated randomly depending on the device or something else.

How to open:

These files are not meant to be opened directly and only server for cache purpose. You can safely delete them if needed.

How to convert:

As far as we know, this .thumbdata file type can't be converted to any other file format. This is usually the case of system, configuration, temporary, or data files containing data exclusive to only one software and used for its own purposes. Also some proprietary or closed file formats cannot be converted to more common file types in order to protect the intellectual property of the developer, which is for example the case of some DRM-protected multimedia files.
