.TAN File

The tan file extension is used by Amazon Kindle, a software and hardware platform developed by Amazon.com subsidiary Lab126 for reading e-books and other digital media.

Three hardware devices, known as Kindle, Kindle 2, and Kindle DX support this platform, as does an iPhone application called Kindle for iPhone.

The tan file stores marks, bookmarks, position (last location read) related to TPZ e-book files.

How to convert:

As far as we know, this .tan file type can't be converted to any other file format. This is usually the case of system, configuration, temporary, or data files containing data exclusive to only one software and used for its own purposes. Also some proprietary or closed file formats cannot be converted to more common file types in order to protect the intellectual property of the developer, which is for example the case of some DRM-protected multimedia files.
