What is an .SPRITE file?

The sprite file extension is mainly used for a raster image format used on RISC OS platform.

Akin to BMP, only there can be multiple sprites in a file (with and without transparency), multiple sizes, multiple aspect ratios, color depths... it's more than an MBM because there is no actual requirement for any of the sprites in the file to relate to any other. It "can" be "the same thing in different resolutions", but it can just as easily be "anything".

MIME types:
application/x-sprite

Files with sprite file extension can be found as bitmap images from RISC OS platform.
