The smt file extension is associated with the Samsung Theme Designer used to create themes for Samsung mobile phones.

The smt file contains compiled theme prepared to import to the Samsung mobile phone. Samsung theme file is originally ZIP archive with renamed file extension to SMT which contains settings, graphics and other elements used to visualize theme on the phone.

To import theme file to your phone, connect the phone to your computer through USB cable and copy smt file in to Themes directory stored in the phone.

The smt files are used by phones: Star II, Wave525, Wave533, Wave575, Wave578 and others.

Files with smt extension are phone themes created using the Samsung Theme Designer program.

How to convert:

It doesn't seem there would be any practical reason to convert SMT themes to something else.
