File extension sfcache is associated with ReadyBoost, a disk caching technology first included with Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system.
It aims to make computers running Windows Vista more responsive by using flash memory on a USB 2.0 drive, SD card, CompactFlash, or other form of flash memory, in order to boost system performance.
To activate the ReadyBoost technology:
Rright click on flash memory in Windows Explorer → Properties → ReadyBoost
sfcache have system attribute, to remove them from flash memory devices disable the ReadyBoost option.
ReadyBoost speed up the random disk reads with performance that is typically 80-100 times faster than random reads from classic hard drives.
Windows Vista requires 256MB minimal capacity of flash memory and maximal capacity is 4GB. Widows 7 allows up maximal capacity to 256GB. Flash memory can be formatted with FAT, FAT32, NTFS and exFAT file systems.
Files with sfcache extension are used for Microsoft Windows ReadyBoost cache files. They are stored on flash memory device (USB flash, SD card, CompactFlash etc.) and generally used to faster random disk reads that speed up a computer.
