What is an .SF2 file?

File extension sf2 is used for a 16 or 24-bits sound format.

It might contain loops, names, lfos, envelopes, layers, instruments, drum kits, collection, sample start & end offsets, low-pass filter. Most likely some very old audio format.

This sf2 file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.

File s with sf2 extension contain sound banks with instrumental music. Saved in Creative Labs SoundFont, these are used to customize instrument sounds on Creative sound cards for MIDI music playback or MIDI sequencing. An sf2 file stores bank with instruments.
