What is an .SBN file?

The sbn file extension is mainly associated with ArcView / ArcGIS geography software from ESRI.

The sbn file contains binary spatial indexes, which are used only by ESRI software. The format is not documented, and is not implemented by other vendors.

The sbn file is not strictly necessary, since the shp file contains all of the information necessary to successfully parse the spatial data.

Files with sbn file extension can be often found as some sort of spacial index files for ArcGIS / ArcView read-write shapefiles.

How to open:

These files are used during the shapefile loading process in Esri ArcView and ArcGIS programs.

How to convert:

We do not know about any possible conversion for this file ESRI type.
