The sat file extension is mainly associated with Spatial 3D ACIS modeling engine and used for one of the default 3D formats.

3D ACIS engine is supported by various CAD applications such as  Autodesk AutoCAD, CADKEY, IRONCAD, Vellum Solids, and several others CAD systems.

These files contain CAD representations of system components, which may be used to model objects in non-sequential mode.

Files with sat file extension can be mostly found as CAD files saved in 3D ACIS format from modeling tools produced by Spatial Corp.

How to open:

Many CAD/3D modeling tools support 3D ACIS format and can both read or write it.There is also free RADF Viewer which can view *.sat files as well.

How to convert:

You can use 3D ACIS or other third party CAD software (AutoCAD, CADKEY, IRONCAD) to translate the files to other similar formats. ACIS formats are generally well-supported.
