.PROCREATE File

A PROCREATE file contains a canvas created by Savage Procreate or Savage Procreate Pocket, which are applications used to create illustrations and animations. It is the native format used to save artwork with Procreate apps and may include image layers, adjustment layers, layer masks, clipping masks, file information, keywords, and other elements.

You will most likely only encounter PROCREATE files if you use Procreate on your iPad or Procreate Pocket on your iPhone to create artwork. You may also receive a PROCREATE file from a Procreate user trying to share his artwork.

The file is saved in a proprietary format that is only supported by Procreate and Procreate Pocket. You can also view, but not edit PROCREATE files with the ProcreateViewer plugin (developed by Jarom Vogel) for Apple Finder in macOS.

If you do not have access to Procreate, Procreate Pocket, or the ProcreateViewer plugin for Finder, you will not be able to open the file. If this is the case, you can ask the sender to export the artwork with Procreate to a different format, such as .PSD, .PNG, .JPG, .GIF, .TIFF, .PDF, or .MP4 (if it is an animation).
