What is an .PIDS file?

A PIDS file is a scan data file created by Snap-on diagnostic and information system tools, such as Verus Pro, Zeus, and Verdict. It contains data in XML format from a scan of a vehicle which includes brake and fuel pump status, barometric pressure, engine speed, and valve timing.

Snap-on tools, such as Verdict, Verus Pro, and Zeus, are used to run scans of a vehicle to test its performance. Once the scan is complete, the data is stored in the PIDS file, which is used to share with others or store for records. A scan collects a wide array of information, such as the air fuel ratio, engine coolant temperature, fuel pulse width, intake air temperature, manifold absolute pressure, and valve timing.

You can open a PIDS file with ShopStream Connect, a program developed by Snap-on to view data files from vehicle scans, such as SCM, SCP, and SCS files. Since the file is saved in XML format, you can also view the PIDS file with text editors.
