The phtml file extension is used for HTML pages that also include a PHP scripts. However it is the same source code format as the PHP page  with the php file extension.

PHTML web pages are also supported by various web browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome etc. File is stored in simple text format and can be viewed in text editor, or PHP source code editor.

A phtml file extension is related to the PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) server side scripting language and used for HTML page with PHP scripts.

How to open:

Use any text editor or specialised application (Adobe Dreamweaver, Contribute). To open use web browser (Opera, Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer).

How to convert:

There is no way how to convert *.phtml files to other formats.
