File extension php is traditionally used for one of the most common programming language for web development - PHP.

PHP is a server-side scripting language that was designed specifically for web development, nevertheless it can also be used as a general-purpose programming language.

The best way to open ane edit .php files is to use some of the dedicated programming editors (Zend Studio), or even source code / text editors (Notepad++, Sublime Text). But you will also likely need to run local PHP server (WampServer, XAMPP) for testing purposes.You can view them on-line like any other web pages using any of the availale web browser (Edg, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari etc.).

How to convert:

You most likely won't find converters that will allow you to convert .php files straight to some other file types. However, you may encounteres parsers that allow for some sort of translation of the PHP content to other programming languages.
