The nrf file extension is related to IBM Domino Notes.

NRF format was added to the Domino server to provide a way for clients to be notified that a database which used to exist on the server no longer does.

Without a Redirect file the client will request a full path search of the Domino server for the missing file, which is a very expensive operation.

Files with nrf extension can be found as some sort of redirection files from IBM Domino Notes. Used to redirect client requests.

As far as we know, this .nrf file type can't be converted to any other file format. This is usually the case of system, configuration, temporary, or data files containing data exclusive to only one software and used for its own purposes. Also some proprietary or closed file formats cannot be converted to more common file types in order to protect the intellectual property of the developer, which is for example the case of some DRM-protected multimedia files.
