Dynamic link library (.DLL) file used by Microsoft Windows Vista and newer versions; generally located in the C:\Windows\winsxs\Backup directory; used by the system to reference backup components stored in the Backup directory.
C:\Windows\winsxs is used by the system to store components and .MANIFEST files from various Windows updates. The Backup directory within it holds backups of .MANIFEST files in case they become corrupted. It is only used by the system and is not used by Windows Backup to restore lost files.
NOTE: Files in the winsxs directory are important system files that should not be altered or deleted.
