The mka file extension is related to Matroska multimedia container (MKVs).

The Matroska Multimedia Container is an open standard free Container format, a file format, that can hold an unlimited number of video, audio, picture or subtitle tracks inside a single file.

It is intended to serve as a universal format for storing common multimedia content, like movies or TV shows.

The mka file contains only audio data in Matroska container.

Files with mka file extension can be typically found as audio files in Matroska audio file format. Pretty much same as MKV, but MKA is used for files that contain audio content only in Matroska container.

How to open:

Most modern media players support playback of *.mka files. VLC player is always good option.

How to convert:

Many multimedia converters nowadays support MKA format and can convert it to something else or create it from other formats.
