An MEML file contains Minimalist Lisp Markup Language (MEML), which is a language similar to HTML but more abbreviated. It is used to structure the page layout and content of a webpage, similar to an .HTML file. MEML files are saved in a standard text format with Lisp-like syntax that is meant to reduce the number of lines of code.
MEML combines various features from the HTML5, CSS, Clojure, and Common Lisp web development languages. The language includes various tags, such as viewport and dropdown menu tags. The language is developed by Kai Lyons and the Fivnex group.
NOTE: You will most likely only encounter an MEML file if you are a web developer looking for an alternative to standard HTML.
You can open and edit MEML files with various source code editors, such as Microsoft Visual Studio Code (multiplatform) or GNU Emacs (multiplatform).
Since MEML language is saved in plain text, you can also open and edit MEML files with a basic text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad (Windows) or Apple TextEdit (Mac). However, these text editors do not come with helpful code editing features included with source code editors.
