.LOCK File

The lock file extension is generally related to files generated to determine whether a program or file is in use.

This method is frequently used in database management system to "lock" the databases. Also used in Red Hat Linux.

These files are generally not meant to be opened or altered and serve only for temporary purpose.

Same as lck file extension.
