.KERNEL_COMPLETE File

The kernel_complete file extension is commonly used by KeRanger a ransomware for for Apple Mac OS X operating system.

Much like similar ransomware it encrypts users files and demands ransom to be paid in bitcoins.

This particular ransomware is distributed with infected Transmission Bittorent client.

The .kernel_complete file is stored in  ~/Library folder.

How to open:

When dealing with encrypted files caused by some ransomware, you basically have three choices:1. restore from backup2. wait for some researcher or AV company to release decryptor for your particular ransomware version3. pay the ransomHowever, even paying the ransom does not guarantee you that you will get your files back, as lots of ransomware are just pure scams.

How to convert:

You cannot convert these files to anything else. You first have to recover / decrypt the files before you can convert them to anything else.
