The ipd file extension is associated with BlackBerry mobile phones and used in the past for backup purposes.

At the beginning of 2012, the extension was replaced with bbb file extension for both Windows and Mac Desktop software and the ipd backup file format was abandoned.

Blackberry handheld devices and phones have long been a favorite of the corporate executive.

The BlackBerry Desktop software creates a proprietary backup of the databases on the BlackBerry Handheld.

Note: The very same extension was also used in the Inter@ctive Pager messaging device that was used to send messages via Mobitex data network, developed by RIM (Research In Motion - currently BlackBerry).

This ipd file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.

Files with ipd file extension can be found as backup files from older backup files from Blackberry mobile phones prior 2012.

You can open the* .ipd files in the BlackBerry Desktop Software and restore them if needed.

How to convert:

You can use ABC Amber BlackBerry Converter or Blackberry Extractor Software to access, or convert the data from individual *.ipd file.
