.INPROGRESS File

The inprogress file extension is associated with Apple Time Machine, which is part of Mac OS X (macOS) operating system and used to backup system and sensitive data.

The inprogress file stores temporary data created by Time Machine.

By default, the .inprogress files are created and removed without user intervention.

An inprogress file extension is related to the Apple Time Machine temporary data format.

How to open:

To view content of .inprogress file > Right-click on it > Show Package Content option.

How to convert:

As far as we know, this .inprogress file type can't be converted to any other file format. This is usually the case of system, configuration, temporary, or data files containing data exclusive to only one software and used for its own purposes. Also some proprietary or closed file formats cannot be converted to more common file types in order to protect the intellectual property of the developer, which is for example the case of some DRM-protected multimedia files.
