What is an .ICL file?

The icl file extension is used by Microsoft Windows operating system for store library with graphic icons usually in different sizes and color depth and their names.

The icl files can be edited with various icon editing tools, such as Axialis IconWorkshop or Icon Catcher 

Originally the ICL Format is same as DLL Format, only with renamed file extension for identify purposes in Windows operating system. Windows is able to use icons directly from the icon library.

ICL Format is existing in two versions. Obsolete 16-bit supported by Windows 3.11 and 32-bit used by Windows 95, Windows NT and higher.
