File extension hta associated with applications written in HTML, dynamic HTML, or other script languages supported by Microsoft Internet Explorer. HTA HTML applications were introduced with Internet Explorer version 5. Many features of HTA can be now replaced by JavaScript that is more safer than HTML application.

Double-click an hta file and the code therein begins running with the same security/trust level as a user-started EXE or other program. Thus, it certainly qualifies as an executable program file extension.

Use text editor or specialised application (Adobe Dreamweaver). Can be opened by Microsoft HTML Application host (part of Microsoft Windows).

How to convert:

You can search the web for some HTA converters or simply copy and paste from browser into any text editor capable to convert HTA tags into its document file format (eg. Microsoft Word). You can also export print/save webpage into .pdf file using some PDF software solution (Adobe Acrobat, FinePrint etc.).
