.ED2K File

The ed2k file extension is associated with the eDonkey, a peer-to-peer sharing network. ED2K files work like the torrent files and contain link and hash to data that can be downloaded via eDonkey network.

ED2K files were used by official client called simple eDonkey. Official client developing was stopped in 2006, but eDonkey network is still used by alternative clients based on eMule project. eMule also can open the ED2K files.

How to convert:

As far as we know, this .ed2k file type can't be converted to any other file format. This is usually the case of system, configuration, temporary, or data files containing data exclusive to only one software and used for its own purposes. Also some proprietary or closed file formats cannot be converted to more common file types in order to protect the intellectual property of the developer, which is for example the case of some DRM-protected multimedia files.
