The dup1 file extension is mainly related to Samsung smart phones with Android OS.

These dub1 file are typically generated when the device is synced using the Samsung Kies software.

They are duplicates or any multimedia content, usually music or digital photographs and serve no particular purpose, just take up place. You can delete them freely.

Typically found as filename.jpg.dup1 for example.

How to open:

These files are just renamed originals, so if you remove the *.dup1 extension, you can continue with the originals like you are used to.

How to convert:

You can restore the original file by removing the *.dup1 extension and leaving only the original extension.
