The cerber3 file extension is mostly related to the latest variant of original Cerber ransomware.

It appears this new version has some significant changes and contains numerous internal changes, as well as changes that will be apparent to the victim.

Note: A strain of this ransomware that appeared in October 2016 switched to random extension and no longer uses cerber3 file suffix.

This cerber3 file type entry was marked as obsolete and no longer supported file format.

This type of file is no longer actively used and is most likely obsolete. This is typically the case for system files in old operating systems, file types from long discontinued software, or previous versions of certain file types (like documents, projects etc.) that were replaced in higher versions of their original programs.

Files with cerber3 file extension may be found as encrypted files of all kinds that were affected by the Cerber3 ransomware.
