What is an .APXL file?

The apxl file extension is mainly used by Apple Keynote application for one of the default file type.

An apxl file is located inside the .key Keynote presentation file, which is basically a ZIP archive that contains all presentation data such as text, images, sounds, videos settings etc.

APXL is a simple text - XML structured file format, which specifies every detail of the presentation’s appearance and behavior—from the appearance of the master slide and each individual slide to the transitions used between slides and the state of the presentation when the customer first opens it.

To view the contents of a KEY Keynote file in the Mac OS X (macOS), right click it, select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu that appears, then open the Contents folder.

To view the contents of a KEY Keynote file in the Microsoft Windows, rename the KEY file extension to ZIP file extension and open archive in the compression utility, which supports ZIP compression.

Files with apxl file extension can be usually found as settings files from Apple Keynote. Used to define users settings in the program.

How to open:

The apxl settings file is officially for internal use of the Keynote, but file can be extracted from the KEY Keynote presentation and manually opened in the text editor or word processor. Better is, that the text editor supports XML code highlighting (Notepad++, Gedit) for better orientation in the APXL file.

How to convert:

A conversion for these files is highly unlikely, because these files just settings.
