What is an .AMF file?

File extension amf is mainly related to the Additive Manufacturing Format, an open standard for describing objects for additive manufacturing processes (3D printing) developed by 3MF Consortium.

The official ASTM F2915 standard is an XML-based format designed to allow any CAD software to describe the shape and composition of any 3D object to be fabricated on any 3D printer. Unlike the previous standard STL format, AMF has native support for color, materials, lattices, and constellations.

Files with amf extension can be most often found as 3D models exported to special Additive Manufacturing Format for 3D printing.

How to open:

Mainly used in dedicated software for 3D printers, such as Cura.

How to convert:

This format is meant for 3D printing, you can export your 3D models to it in programs that support AMF format, but you cannot recreate 3D model back to the original format.
