The aes256 file extension has been found on Internet used on the insurance.aes256 file, that probably stored information about Afghan War.

Its some sort of encrypted file possibly associated with the WikiLeaks site.

The file is called insurance.aes256

At this moment, there is not known application that is able to open or decrypt *.aes256 file types.

How to convert:

As far as we know, this .aes256 file type can't be converted to any other file format. This is usually the case of system, configuration, temporary, or data files containing data exclusive to only one software and used for its own purposes.
