File extension Dexter is used by a variant of ransomware called Troldesh which much like other similar threats encrypts users files and demands bitcoins as ransom. It is distributed via .zip files downloaded from internet links provided in a spam email.

How to open:

The only way to access the original files is to use a decrypter - if it exists.

How to convert:

Once you have decrypted the affected files, you can convert the content.
