File extension spd is nowadays mainly known to be used for a special note format used in the S Note app of latest phablets and tables from Samsung's Galaxy Note product family.

A .spd file represents a special document used since Galaxy Note 3 when a hand written note is saved by the user.

The previous models used format with snb extension that seems to have been replaced in 3th generation of the device to the new spd format.

This one also appears to be a rename ZIP archive that contains the actual note in XML format.

How to open:

Specialzed apps for Android can usually view *.spd files and of course you can use the Galaxy Note tablets. S Notes notes can also be synced via Evernote.

How to convert:

It should be possible to export *.spd files as *.pdf documents or *.jpg picture image within the default Android app on Galaxy Note and Windows app. You can also download S Note from Samsung website and export your *.spd notes from there.
