.BIN File

File extension bin is used for a disk image created from a CD using CDRWin.

It stores data copied from a CD or DVD. It can be mounted by the computer and recognized as a physical disc. CDRWin CD image file is similar to the standard ISO disc image format.

These are similar to ISO image files. You may also encounter the .bin file extension with certain system and anti-virus files as well. These different bin files need to be edited differently. One can be edited with Notepad or a simple text editor, while image files require a specific program to read and edit.

The bin file is the binary image of a CD or DVD, and a cue file is what enables a bin file to open. Create a new virtual drive and burn CDs or DVDs by using binary files.

How to open:

The BIN binary disk file is supported by many applications, that are used to burning CD/DVD media (NERO Burning ROM) or which are used to manage disk binary images (UltraISO, MagicISO, Daemon Tools). Some applications need the CUE description file to be able to open the BIN binary disk file.

How to convert:

CD/DVD burning applications or applications that are used to manage binary images, are able to open other disk image formats (NRG, ISO, DAA). In many times they can convert BIN file to another disk image format. Some applications need the CUE description file to be able to open and manage the BIN binary disk file.
